Welcome Elyssa!
And another Ruby pal is born. Congrats to Karen and Nathan on the birth of their daughter, Elyssa on Tuesday, June 26th. I was all excited to see a new tiny baby but alas, she was born at 8lbs 13 oz so not so tiny! I think Ruby weighed that at 2 months. Ha! We visited her on Wednesday and Ruby had fun checking her out. Good times! Congrats to Jacob too-- he's going to be a great big brother!
On an interesting note, they were in the same room as us when Ruby was born. Fun coincidence!

Baby's First Pride
After pride, we tried to go to a bbq at Seward park to meet up with a bunch of our mama friends....but we were not successful for a myriad of reasons (mainly because I am directionally challenged and wholly disorganized) so we just went home. I guess it was for the best, Little Miss R was tired!

Losing My Mind
Yesterday was one of those days where things just seem like too much. Ruby didn't seem to be eating well which creates stress about milk production, I had a really busy day of storytime and outreach ahead and it seemed that we were missing 6 diapers. I looked everywhere and couldn't figure out how 6 diapers could have just disappeared. I started getting really panicky -- I mean those suckers are expensive! Finally, I just had to leave for work and put it out of my mind because it was driving me crazy! Well...I got home last night and still, the diapers eluded me. And then, when I went to put my laundry in the dryer, I found them there. Evidently, I had done a load of diapers and completely forgotten about it. I've forgotten to do the laundry, but never have I forgotten that I have already done it! Sheesh!
Father's Day and Baby Feet
We had a lovely little father's day last weekend. I got Dustin a trav
el mug with Ruby's mug on it and in daycare, they made a little gift with paint prints of her little feet and a photograph for him. We had some breakfast and then he was off to play softball. We didn't do anything big but it was a nice little day all in all.
Last night, I set Ruby in her crib to have some naked time, putting her bum on a diaper and waterproof mat and turning on her mobile. I went to grab a glass of water and when I came back, she was having a playdate with her feet. Moving them around and watching them every second, grabbing them with her hands...she was completely enthralled. I was tempted to take a little video of it but the cute factor was a little offset by the fact that she was also taking a really big poop at the same time. Silly monkey! Oh well..maybe I'll catch it next time!

What the...?
We just keep being busy here. It just seems that we keep having more and more going on but with the same 24 hours. However, it's going well so I can't complain too much.
Last Sunday we went to my friend Christine's where we got together with our crafty pals, the ladies of Inky Fingers. While there, they presented me with a gorgeous awesome photo album/scrapbook. Each one of them had done some pages and it is SO cool. I'd take photos of it but I tried and it didn't come through how cool it was. Suffice to say, if you come to my house, I'll show it to you and it is AWESOME. I cannot wait to start filling it with photos of our monkey.
Also, while there, my friend Caryl took a bunch of really great photos of Ruby. I call this one "What the....?" hence the title of this post. Here's another I really liked - this was when we brought out 'Banana Man,' a toy she really enjoys. She has such amazing facial expressions, I could watch her all day long. She's been going through a growth spurt I think, sleeping a LOT and eating a LOT. It's really fun to see what she'll do next.
On Wednesday, we went to Next Months and afterwards had lunch from some of the ladies there. I always look forward to Wednesday's meetings...in fact, I feel a little empty inside when I miss it. What will I do when we hit 6 months and graduate??? I'll think about that later....
Anway, we also lunched with my friend Karen who I used to work with at Space Grant. It was a lot of fun to see her! She's leaving for Scotland next week, Lucky Pants, so I was glad we were able to get together. Ruby enjoyed puking all over her sweatshirt too! She does like to leave her mark everywhere...just like a tomcat, only much much better.
